Research area
The agri-food sector is a major driver for biodiversity loss and climate change, and also affects the socio-economic and nutritional health dimensions. In order to grasp the shortcomings of the Swiss food system and provide relevant information for a food system transformation, an up-to-date impact assessment is needed that covers all relevant areas from production to consumption. The aim of Eva’s doctoral thesis is to further develop methods in the field of food system modelling and provide solutions for the transition towards a more sustainable food system in Switzerland. Within the proposed assessment of the environmental, nutritional and socio-economic performance of the Swiss food system, a focus will be on biodiversity, which is an often underrepresented aspect in food system modelling. Then, in a participatory modelling approach with citizens, scenarios and visions for the future of the Swiss food system will be evaluated and discussed.
Curriculum vitae
Eva received her BSc and MSc in Environmental Sciences from ETH Zürich.
